The gascony hills

This area is to the south of the garonne valley, but is still within the aquitaine. it has a characteristic rolling countryside and is home to the brulhois vineyeards.

Stop in the the lateral canal of sérignac sur garonne  Here you can see both the Lateral Canal and the river.  This is a Bastide built in 1273, which has retained its square with arcades and some beautiful half-timbered houses.  Visit of : the 11th century church with its helical bell tower built in 1922 by journeyman carpenters

fals, in the heart of the brulhois vineyards  The village is in the heart of the Brulhois vineyards on a panoramic site. It is dominated by a 18th century castle..  Visit also of the Romanesque church, remodelled in the 19th century, situated on a promontory.

Caudecoste, a 13th century bastide  A 13th century Bastide.  The old fortified village has a listed square with arcades and some beautiful half-timbered houses.  Leisure Centre ( Go-karts, microlights, mini-golf…)

layrac, a medieval town  A medieval town dominating the River Gers  Visit of : the springs and wash-house ; the 11th century church of St.Martin.  The Brulhois Cellar - VDQS wines and local products  Crafts : Ceramics and porcelain,wrought-iron metalwork

Moirax, superb clunisian priory  Superb Clunisian priory of the 11th century, considered to be one of the jewels of Romanesque art in South-West France. A staging post for pilgrims to Santiago de Compostella.
